Banking Monitor 2021 - positive opinion of the banking industry in Switzerland

18.05.2021 | gfs.bern on behalf of Schweizerische Bankiervereinigung

The Swiss have a positive opinion of the banking industry, appreciate the flexible support of the economy by the banks within the framework of the COVID 19 credit programme, have a high level of trust in their own main bank and are largely satisfied with digitisation in the financial industry.

In 2021, gfs.berne once again conducted the Banking Monitor on behalf of the Swiss Bankers Association (SBA). In addition to the perception of the image of the Swiss banks and the formation of opinion around the financial centre, this year the focus is on the topic of digitalisation.

The vast majority of Swiss citizens have a positive image of the banking industry. The Covid19 credit programme also meets with great approval among voters. This year’s special section showed that voters are largely satisfied with the state of digitalisation in the financial sector, the rest of the economy and the authorities, but also have clear demands to improve the conditions for further digitalisation.

Further results of the current Banking Monitor can be found in the final report (in German).

The results of the Banking Monitor 2021 are based on a representative survey of 1,001 Swiss voters. The survey was conducted between 13 January and 18 February 2021 using computer-assisted telephone interviews (CATI, all age groups). The telephone interviews were conducted using a random digit dialling (RDD)/dual frame procedure via landline and mobile phone.
