Urs Bieri is a political scientist who holds a licentiate degree from the University of Bern. He also has a NDS FH in Corporate Management, an Executive MBA FH, a CAS in Political Communication and a CAS in Communication Management. Urs Bieri works as a lecturer at the ZHAW - Zurich University of Applied Sciences as well as at the institute VMI at the Universität Fribourg.

The Administrative Board

The Administrative Board is responsible for gfs.bern’s strategic operation.

Claude Longchamp

Member of the Administrative Board

Claude Longchamp established, shaped and managed gfs.bern between 1986 and 2016. After handing over the company to Urs Bieri and Lukas Golder, he was the President of the Administrative Board until February 2020. Since March 2020, he has been a Member of the Administrative Board. In his capacity as a political scientist, he also lectures at the Universities of Zurich and Bern. Claude Longchamp specialises in the formation of opinions during referendum and election campaigns. He has an academic background in history and conducts guided historic tours of Bern and other cities. In February 2020, he founded his new company "Longchamps Kompetenzen – Politik analysieren, Geschichte(n) erzählen".

Martin Frey

Member of the Administrative Board

Martin Frey is a solicitor and partner at the Zurich offices of the international law firm Baker McKenzie. At present, he is a member of its Management Committee. He specialises in corporate law, M&A transactions and succession planning. He has been a member of gfs.bern’s Administrative Board since 2009.

Lukas Golder

President of the Administrative Board

Lukas Golder has been working for gfs.bern since 1999. After becoming a Project Manager in 2002, he was appointed a Senior Project Manager and a Member of the gfs.bern Executive Board in 2006 and since March 2020, he has been the President of the gfs.bern Executive Board. He has jointly managed the company with Urs Bieri since 2016. He holds a Master of Advanced Studies in Corporate Communication and Leadership from the Zurich University of Applied Sciences. In 2018, he started a training course to become a Chief Digital Officer at the Swiss Institute for Business Administration, which he will complete in May 2020.

Urs Bieri

Member of the Administrative Board

Urs Bieri is a political and media scientist. He has been working for the gfs.bern research institute since 1996. Having become a Project Manager in 2000, he was appointed a Senior Project Manager in 2006 and became a Member of the Executive Board and the company’s Co-director in 2016. He was also appointed to the Administrative Board of gfs-befragungsdienst (the gfs survey service) in 2016. In 2009, Urs Bieri completed an Executive MBA FH in Strategic Management to complement his background in the social sciences. He further completed a CAS (Certificate of Advanced Studies) FH in Communication Management in 2011 and a CAS FH in Political Communication in 2013. At present, he is a lecturer on the CAS programme in Political Communication at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences and teaches a module on lobbying at the VMI department of the University of Fribourg.

Petra Huth

Economist and political scientist

Petra Huth works for and with gfs.bern as a project manager in qualitative research. She also coaches moderators and moderates complex dialogue groups. She derives her operative and strategic experience from her former employment with gfs.bern and from her work as a consultant and expert on political education. In collaboration with gfs.bern, Petra Huth organises large-scale workshops and focus groups in multiple languages and on a variety of topics.
