Worry Barometer 2022

23.11.2022 | on behalf of Credit Suisse

The environment is now the top concern of the Swiss population. The topics of AHV/ old-age provision and energy follow in second and third place, while the pandemic is no longer among the ten most important concerns.

Once again this year, gfs.bern, on behalf of Credit Suisse, asked Swiss voters about their concerns and key features of the country’s identity. At 39 percent, the environment (environmental protection, climate change, environmental disasters) is Switzerland’s new top concern. Compared to last year’s survey, the value is unchanged, but because the pandemic has disappeared from the top concerns with currently 13 percent, the environmental issue has moved up to first place this year. The topic of AHV/ old-age pensions is in second place with 37 percent. This year’s worry landscape is also characterised by the emergence of new uncertainties in connection with the war in Ukraine. Awareness of topics such as energy issues, security of supply or even inflation is clearly on the rise.
