How's Switzerland?

24.08.2023 | gfs.bern on behalf of SRG SSR

A nationwide survey by gfs.bern shows: The majority of Swiss citizens are satisfied with their own lives, even if not completely and unconditionally. Satisfaction with private life is higher, while professional life leads to less satisfaction.

The Swiss population is basically satisfied with their lives, but noticeably more satisfied with their private lives than with their professional lives. In the coming years, Mr. and Mrs. Swiss will be concerned above all with expensive healthcare, wars, climate change, their own health and a sustainable lifestyle.

The most influential factors in dissatisfaction are one’s own financial situation, increasing pressure to perform and psychological stress, as well as unemployment and an insufficient supply of housing. On the other hand, higher satisfaction can be expected due to security, family life and gender equality.

The final report with further results can be obtained here.
